An Inclusive Community Strengthens All of Us
Diversity and inclusion are vital to our dynamic learning community. Our graduates report that a major benefit of their Contra Costa Jewish Day School education is that they are able to truly contribute to and participate in a diverse world. CCJDS welcomes students with a variety of talents, interests, backgrounds and perspectives. They develop a deep appreciation for their own identity and strong ability to respect and appreciate other cultures and their languages, traditions, and histories.
Living in an inclusive community begins at CCJDS. We honor and welcome a range of religious practices and cultural backgrounds, and diversity of family life — including single parents, gay and lesbian parents, and grandparents involved in raising their grandchildren. Our families come from around the world: South America, Russia, Israel, Europe, Asia, and all over the United States. In many CCJDS families, English is the second language spoken at home. A third of our families live in Oakland/Berkeley and others live north to Concord and south to San Ramon. Our flexible tuition plan, seeks to make a high quality Day School education available to our entire Jewish community, results in a rich socio-economic diversity.
