Drama, Music and Art

Weekly instruction in Drama, Music, and Art focuses on both skill development and project-based work.  Improvisational games and scene work, appropriate to their age and stage, are cultivated in a fun, accessible way.  Music class progresses from percussion through music theory as students begin with rhythm instruments and then move through the recorder, ukulele, and xylophone.  Winter and Spring Concerts are a memorable performance tradition.  First through fifth grade students interested in chorus may join the student chorale that also performs on the concert stage.  Fine arts burst with color and creativity, as students experiment in different media and styles.

For students interested in doing more with drama, the school’s annual musical, each February, offers them a chance to shine on our stage. Recent CCJDS all-school musicals have included the great shows listed below.
